Public Consultation on the Extension of the National Lottery to the Island

On 1 March 2005 the States debated the modernisation of the gambling law and agreed that the former Economic Development and Finance and Economics Committees be tasked with negotiating the introduction of a new public lottery to be operated jointly for the benefit of the public and charitable institutions in the Island. To that end, officials from Economic Development have been negotiating with the relevant UK Authorities regarding the possible extension of the National Lottery to the Island.

Earlier this year the Assistant Minister for Economic Development, Deputy Alan Maclean agreed to go out to public consultation on the extension of the National Lottery to the Island and the future of the CI Lottery in general.

A consultation paper has been prepared and the Assistant Minister is now seeking Islanders' views and comment. Analysis of these comments will be used to inform the debate regarding both the CI and National Lotteries
